The Influence of Leadership Style and Information systems on Managerial Decision Making in The Hospitality Industry of Jordan: The Role of Organizational Culture as a Mediator

Abstract

The Applicability of Islamic Crowdfunding as an Alternative Funding for Micro-entrepreneurs in MalaysiaThis study aimed to investigate the role of organizational culture in mediating the relationship between information systems, leadership styles, and managerial decision-making in the hospitality industry of Jordan. The study collected data from 356 valid responses of managers from Jordanian five-star hotels using self-distributed questionnaires. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to test the framework of the study and prove the hypotheses developed for the study. The results of the study indicated that information systems positively influence managerial decision-making, while the influence of leadership style was insignificant. Furthermore, both information systems and leadership style had a positive effect on organizational culture, which in turn had a significant positive effect on managerial decision-making. The study also found that organizational culture partially mediated the relationship between information systems and managerial decision-making, while fully mediating the relationship between leadership style and managerial decision-making. The study confirmed the theories of contingency theory and leadership style theory. The study has important implications for the hospitality industry in Jordan, particularly in terms of utilizing information systems and developing a positive organizational culture to improve decision-making effectiveness. The study also highlights the importance of understanding the moderating role of gender in leadership styles and managerial decision-making. This study provides valuable insights for decision-makers in the hospitality industry in Jordan and beyond.
