Author Guidelines

The Afaq Lughawiyyah Journal publishes written manuscripts in Malay, English and Arabic. The submitted manuscript which to be issued in this journal must present its originality, unpublished work; and has not been submitted to or not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The manuscript must be typed and submitted according to procedures as follows:

* The manuscript must be prepared using Microsoft Word file format only.

* For manuscripts written in Malay or English, the text must be typed in 1.5 spacing using 12-point Times New Roman font.

* For manuscripts written in Arabic, the text must be typed in 1.5 spacing using 16-point Traditional Arabic font.

* Every page of the manuscript, including references, tables, etc., should be numbered consecutively on the lower right-hand corner. Words that should be italicized must be typed as such. Any other word should not be italicized.

* Single column.

* In the size of A4 paper.

* Not more than 15 pages or maximum of 5,000 words

 

 

FORMAT AND STYLE

 

The title of the manuscript must be concise, descriptive and does not exceed 15 words.

Name(s) of author(s) should be typed in uppercase and lowercase letters, and centered.

Present address(es) should be typed in uppercase and lowercase letters, and centered. E-mail addresses are only required for corresponding author.

An informative abstract must summarize the purpose and major findings of paper in more than 150 words and not exceeding 200.

Abstract should contain problem statement of the research, research objective, research methodology and research findings.

Papers in Malay and Arabic must have an abstract and title in English.

Five words should be selected as keywords to reflect the overall ideas of the paper. They should be typed below ABSTRACT and ABSTRAK, respectively, and flushed to the left.

Generally, the division of manuscript content should include Introduction, Methodology, Result and Discussion, Conclusion and References.

All section headings should be capitalized and flushed to the left. Sub-headings should be typed in lower-case, also flushed to the left. The text should be typed two spaces below the section heading. Results should either be presented in table or figure form, but not in both forms unless required. Captions should be written above the table or below the figure.

All illustrations including diagram, chart, graph and tables required labelling and illustrated separately in different page and must not be embedded in the text. The proposed location of illustration must be indicated clearly in the journal. It should be numbered and referred to hierarchically.

References cited in the text should be given in parentheses, e.g. (Mohammad 1992: Musa and Hassan 1993; Ho et al. 1994), except when the author is mentioned, e.g.: and the study of Ross and Ross (1990) and Salisbury et al. (1995) .

Formatting of references follows APA 6th edition; for example:

All references cited in the text must be listed in the reference list. Likewise, all references listed in the reference list must be cited in the text. Editor reserves the right to delete the missing and incomplete references if deemed necessary, and the related text.

The references for Arabic article must include the cited text and the list of references, which must be written in Roman letters with the Arabic pronunciation.

Within the journal, the use of footnotes is inadvisable. If unavoidable, please minimise the usage and label it numerically and systematically at the end of the page where it occurs.

 

EVALUATION PROCESS

 

Each article will be evaluated by the Chief Editor. After preliminary examination by the editorial board to establish that the manuscript is within the scope of this Journal, the manuscript will be reviewed for originality and significance by at least one independent referee, who then makes a recommendation as to its acceptability for publication. The Chief Editor reserves the right to make the final decision.

 

PROOFS

 

All manuscripts will undergo some editorial modification, so it is important for authors to check proofs carefully. Authors are required to notify the editor for any corrections or additions of any missing.

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

 

The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.

The text is 1.5 spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Roman (Malay & English) or 16-point Traditional Arabic font (Arabic); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

Papers submitted may go through similarity checks using appropriate software.

All authors agreed to the current submitted form of the paper.
