Intertextuality refers to the relationship between texts, highlighting the influence of underlying or absent texts within the current one, which interact with and impact its meaning on both syntactic and semantic levels. Additionally, it encompasses the interplay between different parts of the same text, where each segment interacts with and informs the others. Among the various mechanisms within this concept, "Detail after Summarization" (al-taf??l ba?da al-ijm?l) plays a significant role in enhancing textual coherence and structure. Despite growing interest in intertextuality within literary studies, specific intertextual mechanisms in non-Western literature remain under-examined. This study addresses this gap through a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the mechanism of "Detail after Summarization" in Naguib Mahfouz's novel Respected Sir (?a?rah al-Mu?taram). This methodology enables a detailed examination of how the mechanism contributes to the novel's cohesion and narrative structure. The findings reveal that this technique enriches textual cohesion by transforming abstract summaries into detailed elaborations, enhancing readers' comprehension of the text. This study underscores the significance of intertextual mechanisms in literary analysis and advocates for further research on their role across diverse literary traditions and cultural contexts.
