Abstract

Yoruba poets have demonstrated a profound engagement with classical Arabic poetry, mastering its core themes and traditional elements. In the contemporary era, poets from the Yoruba region of Nigeria have expanded their focus beyond regional concerns to address pressing global social issues through their poetic expressions. This study aims to compile and analyze poetry that reflects modern social realities and transcends geographical boundaries.  The findings of this research highlight the exceptional ability of Yoruba poets to integrate Nigerian Arabic poetry as a medium for conveying socially relevant messages on an international scale. Their academic expertise has enabled them to articulate complex social narratives with depth and precision, thereby positioning their works within the broader framework of global literature.  To achieve these objectives, the study employs two primary research methodologies: analytical and historical. The analytical approach examines individual poetic works to extract the embedded social values that mirror real-life experiences, while the historical method contextualizes these literary texts within their respective historical backgrounds, shedding light on the events and influences that shaped their creation.  This research underscores the intellectual contributions of Yoruba poets to global literary discourse, illustrating their role in bridging cultural and linguistic traditions while addressing contemporary social challenges.
