[The art of apology in literary heritage: A study of its importance, style and function]

Abstract

Apology is the acknowledgment of shortcomings and the expression of remorse. It is a characteristic of the righteous and a virtue of the honorable. No matter how good the interactions between people, disagreements are inevitable. It is natural for one party to be right and the other wrong. One should expect nothing less from the one who has erred than an apology, for returning to the truth is better than persisting in falsehood. This is the path to creating a society free from hatred and resentment, and the way to eliminate enmity and disputes arising from insistence on error. Hearts are naturally inclined to accept apologies, and sound instinct calls for forgiving the one who apologizes. It is not honorable to harm the one who apologizes, as this leads to hardened hearts that compel one to stubbornly cling to falsehood, which is detrimental to society. When hearts are united and ranks are aligned, human society lives a happy life, and its people find their way to progress. This article addresses the phenomenon of disagreement among people by proposing solutions through the offering of apologies.
