There are challenges in memorizing the Quran and therefore it requires an effective and systematic method to facilitate students to memorize as well to retain the Quran. Among the biggest challenge faced by a student is to remember the mutashabihat verses which appear to be like one another. The difficulty in memorizing and remembering the mutashabih lafaz verses requires specific teaching and learning methods from the institutions of tahfiz, teachers and students. However, how far this matter is addressed seriously at the institutional of tahfiz is still questionable. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the methods of memorization among students tahfiz on the mutashabih lafaz verse, by making Darul Quran Jakim and Department of al-Quran and al-Qiraat, KUIS as research locations. This study was developed based on qualitative method using semi structured interviews as research instrument. 30 tahfiz students from both institutions were selected as participants. The study found that the most frequently methods used were; 1. Identifying the mutashabihat verses and making relevant notes during the memorization and revision sessions, 2. Referring to Quranic exegesis or translation to understand the meaning of the verses, 3. Repeating as much as possible with a focus on the mutashabihat verses. The study also found that no specific reference or book was used in both institutions to overcome the difficulty of memorizing the mutashabihat verses.
Menghafaz al-Quran mempunyai cabaran yang memerlukan kaedah hafazan yang berkesan dan sistematik bagi membantu proses menghafaz dan menjaganya dari lupa. Di antara kesukaran terbesar yang dihadapi oleh penghafaz al-Quran adalah mengingati ayat–ayat mutashabihat, iaitu ayat-ayat al-Quran yang sama atau hampir sama dari sudut lafaznya. Kesukaran dalam menghafaz dan mengingati ayat-ayat mutashabihat ini menuntut kepada kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran khusus sama ada dari pihak institusi tahfiz, guru dan juga pelajar. Namun sejauh mana perkara ini ditangani secara serius di peringkat institusi pengajian tahfiz masih menimbulkan tanda tanya. Justeru, objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti kaedah hafazan di kalangan pelajar tahfiz al-Quran terhadap ayat mutashabihat, dengan menjadikan Darul Quran Jakim dan Jabatan al-Quran dan al-Qiraat KUIS sebagai lokasi kajian. Kajian ini dibina berdasarkan metodologi kualitatif yang menggunakan kaedah temubual separa berstruktur sebagai instrumen kajian. 30 orang pelajar tahfiz daripada dua institusi tersebut dipilih sebagai peserta kajian. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa kaedah yang paling kerap digunakan ialah; 1. Kaedah mengenal pasti ayat mutashabihat dan membuat catatan berkaitannya ketika sesi menghafaz dan mengulang hafazan 2. Kaedah merujuk kepada tafsir atau terjemahan bagi memahami maksud ayat yang dihafaz, 3. Kaedah pengulangan sebanyak mungkin berserta fokus terhadap ayat mutashabihat. Kajian ini juga mendapati bahawa tiada bahan rujukan khusus digunakan di dua institusi pengajian ini bagi menangani kesukaran menghafaz dan mengingati ayat mutashabihat meskipun permasalahan berkaitannya adalah sangat jelas.
