Implikasi Pandemik Covid-19 Terhadap Golongan Belia Islam Di Malaysia
The Implications Of The Covid-19 Pandemic On Muslim Youth In Malaysia
Abstract
Various implications are starting to be felt as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis that has hit the world. All levels of society are affected by the pandemic, especially the youth because this group is closely related to the three main sectors of the country, which is health, economy, and education. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the unemployment rate in Malaysia remains at 3.6 percent in December 2022. This unemployment rate is still considered high compared to before the pandemic. Based on these statistics, two questions have arisen. First, are the Muslim youth, the majority of the unemployed in Malaysia? And has the pandemic affected the youth job market? Therefore, to answer the question, this paper has three objectives. First, identify the percentage of youth unemployment in Malaysia; second, identify the percentage of the post-pandemic youth job market and third, analyse the implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on youth in Malaysia; This document study was conducted by applying qualitative methods using secondary data and then analysed using content analysis methods. The findings have shown that the 15–30-year-old youth group is the second highest unemployed group in Malaysia. Almost 40% of the entire labour force in Malaysia consists of youth. However, the pandemic crisis has limited opportunities for youth to choose jobs commensurate with their skills and qualifications.
