The Attribution and Structural Meanings in the Poem of Isa Alabi Abubakar: A Stylistic and Grammatical Study

Abstract

This study examines predication and syntactic structures in selected poems of 'Isa Alabi Abu Bakar from a grammatical and stylistic perspective. The research problem lies in the scarcity of studies that have addressed the poet’s style from a precise grammatical angle, particularly about the relationship between the predicate and the subject, and the role of syntactic structures in highlighting stylistic and artistic meanings. The study aims to reveal the differences between the normative rules established in grammatical works and the meanings revealed by poetic context. It adopts the descriptive-analytical method, combined with linguistic statistics, to trace patterns of predication in the selected texts. The research concludes that predication constitutes the fundamental basis for constructing the poetic style of 'Isa Alabi Abu Bakar, where grammatical meanings interact with the rhetorical and artistic dimensions of the text.
