Abstract

Mahmoud Darwish is considered one of the most prominent Palestinian poets of the modern era. He was the first to advance modern Arabic poetry and integrate symbolism into it. He is one of the greatest poets in world literature, and through this, the richness of his poetic output is recognized. Therefore, the researcher aimed to know the biography of the poet Mahmoud Darwish and to identify the new poetic styles in Mahmoud Darwish poetry. To achieve this, the researcher relied on the descriptive analytical approach to reach the desired goal. Among the findings reached by the researcher is that Mahmoud Darwish is one of the most beautiful and sincere artistic voices expressing the new phase in Palestinian Arabic poetry, Mahmoud Darwish used symbols and myths in his poetic texts to transform the concept into a non- concept. In view of the above-mentioned results, the researcher proposed a study on symbolism and myth in Mahmoud Darwish poetry to facilitate understanding of the poems.
