Forms of Rhetorical Features in the Diwan of Ibn Ikokoro

Abstract

This article is about the life of a poet by the name: Sheikh Ahmad Ikokoro and his poetic ability. It presented some rhetorical issues and its various branches, including method of application, with regard to the poet, which exposed unusual poetic genius that distinguished him from his colleagues and contemporaries. The researcher applied extrapolation and analytic methods to treat the subject matter and made some inferences, just as he indicated the presence of rhetorical styles in the poetic collection of the poet in question. In the same vain, the researcher arrived at some rhetoric features that poet expiated in using, such the use of words or sentences and the meanings he conveyed, his thoughts and beautiful styles. The article came to conclusion with summary of some important points, results and suggestions, such like: ability of our scholars to imbed some rhetorical method in their literary works and boost up the level of their learnedness, culture as a result of honesty and idealism.
