Abstract: The growing recognition of the significance of tourist satisfaction has spurred researchers worldwide to focus on tourism destinations. As an expanding field with vast potential, tourist destinations have garnered considerable attention for their capacity to impact tourist satisfaction. Thus, recognizing the importance of this subject, this study employs a bibliometric analysis to examine global research trends in tourist satisfaction research from 1993 to 2023 using publications indexed in the Scopus database. This examination encompasses the number of published articles, co-authorships between countries/academic institutions, and co-occurrences of author keywords. The initial Scopus search identified 2,814 records published between 1993 and 2023. After applying the predefined document and source type criteria, 2,579 publications were retained as the final dataset for bibliometric analysis. Findings indicate a significant increase in the number of articles produced annually since 2012, with over 290 articles published in 2020 alone. This consistent growth in publications has led to a substantial accumulation of articles up to 2023. Notably, Spain, China, and the United States emerged as the three leading countries in terms of publication output within the analysed dataset. In conclusion, the findings of this study on tourist satisfaction research progress aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the global collaboration among researchers, facilitating enhanced international cooperation and knowledge dissemination.
