Hukum Penglibatan Orang Islam dalam Perayaan Bukan Islam dalam Konteks Malaysia
Abstract
This article intends to analyze the current festivities of non-Muslim citizens in a Muslim country and to find out how far Muslims are allowed to get involved in them. This article is based on research conducted by compiling facts from historical books, fiqh and interpretation of syarah Hadith which were analyzed in order to derive conclusions. This research found that Islam totally forbids Muslims from getting involved in other religious festivities with the exception of activities that do not involve other religious worship. For example going to an open-house and greetings on their festivities. This actually has caused argument between Muslim scholars whom allow it, against those whom forbid it. In regards to Malaysia, the most convenient answer is, it is allowed for a Muslim to attend an open-house originated by a non-Muslim with certain conditions. It is fine to send greetings to them during the festival verbally or by sending cards. This is due to the fact that there are no similarities between non-Muslims and Muslims which are forbidden. In fact it is to celebrate based on tradition of the community or race only.
