Abstract

This study aims to identify the most prominent Arabic language learning strategies used by fourth-year secondary school students in Islamic schools in Adni. It addresses two main types of strategies: traditional and modern. The researchers adopted a quantitative approach by distributing a questionnaire consisting of twenty items to a sample of thirty male and female students. The results showed that students still rely heavily on traditional strategies, particularly memorization and writing summaries with this item recording the highest overall mean score of 3.08. In contrast, the use of modern strategies was limited with a lower overall mean score of 2.68 which notably, “Google Translate” emerged as one of the most commonly used modern tools among students. Accordingly, these findings contribute to providing a realistic insight into the strategies employed by fourth-year secondary students in learning Arabic at Islamic schools in Aden.
