The Concept of Vocabulary Metacognitive Strategy Taxonomy towards Arabic Vocabulary Comprehension

In the Endemic Era of Covid-19, changes in the Arabic Language education system gave way to digitalization and caused various language teaching and learning models to be introduced to preserve Arabic language education so that it is always up-to-date from the aspect of language mastery of Arabic students. Accordingly, the researcher identified that there is a need for change in Arabic language education which is the implementation of language learning strategies. Therefore, this article aims to introduce a new concept which is the concept of taxonomy of vocabulary metacognitive strategies. The need for the new concept will provide an opportunity to increase added value in the planning of teaching and learning Arabic. The research methodology is the design of a literature study by compiling information from various literature sources related to the debate. The results of the study analysis found that the use of metacognitive strategies is necessary to optimize student’s level of understanding of the use of language in completing language academic assignments. In addition, the taxonomy designed in this study is expected to help the preparation and planning of teachers in teaching and learning Arabic.
